Anthony’s Restaurants is committed to making our website more accessible to all users. We use a third–party accessibility interface that is designed to allow users with certain disabilities to adjust the website’s display and functionality to better suit their individual needs. We also use a third–party AI–based application that runs in the background and is designed to improve compatibility with assistive technologies on an ongoing basis. These tools are intended to assist users but may not resolve every accessibility issue. Screen-reader and keyboard navigation

Our website uses the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various behavioral changes, which are designed to improve compatibility for users visiting with screen-readers. The following describes how the website is intended to address some common screen-reader requirements. We cannot confirm that all features function as described in every environment or with every assistive technology.

• Screen-reader optimization: a background process is designed to learn the website’s components and provide screen-readers with meaningful data using ARIA attributes. For example, it is intended to provide form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; and element roles such as buttons, menus, and modal dialogues. Additionally, the background process is designed to scan images and generate ALT (alternate text) descriptions using image-object-recognition technology, and to extract text embedded within images using OCR (optical character recognition) technology. Users can attempt to activate screen-reader adjustments by pressing Alt+1.
• Keyboard navigation optimization: a background process is designed to adjust the website’s HTML and add behaviors intended to make the website operable by keyboard. This is designed to include the ability to navigate using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links with the Enter key, and navigate between radio and checkbox elements using arrow keys. Content-skip menus may be available via Alt+2.

Disability profiles supported on our website

• Epilepsy Safe Profile: this profile is designed to help reduce the risk of seizure-triggering content by limiting flashing or blinking animations and certain color combinations. It is not a medical guarantee and users with epilepsy should exercise their own judgment.
• Vision Impaired Profile: this profile is designed to assist users with a range of visual impairments, including Degrading Eyesight, Tunnel Vision, Cataract, and Glaucoma. It may not address every visual impairment or assistive technology configuration.
• Cognitive Disability Profile: this profile is designed to provide assistive features intended to help users with cognitive disabilities such as Autism, Dyslexia, and CVA. It may not meet the needs of every user with a cognitive disability.
• ADHD Friendly Profile: this profile is designed to reduce distractions and visual noise to help users with ADHD and Neurodevelopmental disorders. Results may vary depending on the individual user’s needs and browser environment.
• Blind Users Profile (Screen-readers): this profile is designed to improve compatibility with screen-readers such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. Compatibility has not been formally tested across all screen-reader and browser combinations.
• Keyboard Navigation Profile (Motor-Impaired): this profile is designed to assist motor-impaired users in operating the website using the keyboard Tab, Shift+Tab, and Enter keys, as well as shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics).

Additional UI, design, and readability adjustments

• Font adjustments users can increase and decrease its size, change its family (type), adjust the spacing, alignment, line height, and more.
• Color adjustments users can select various color contrast profiles such as light, dark, inverted, and monochrome. Additionally, users can swap color schemes of titles, texts, and backgrounds with over seven different coloring options.
• Animations epileptic users can stop all running animations with the click of a button. Animations controlled by the interface include videos, GIFs, and CSS flashing transitions.
• Content highlighting users can choose to emphasize essential elements such as links and titles. They can also choose to highlight focused or hovered elements only.
• Audio muting users with hearing devices may experience headaches or other issues due to automatic audio playing. This option lets users mute the entire website instantly.
• Cognitive disorders we utilize a search engine linked to Wikipedia and Wiktionary, allowing people with cognitive disorders to decipher meanings of phrases, initials, slang, and others.
• Additional functions allow users to change cursor color and size, use a printing mode, enable a virtual keyboard, and other functions.

Assistive technology and browser compatibility

We aim to support a broad range of browsers and assistive technologies so that users can choose tools that work for them. We have worked to support widely used systems including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and Microsoft Edge, as well as JAWS and NVDA screen-readers, on both Windows and Mac. However, we have not formally tested all combinations and cannot guarantee compatibility in every environment.
